The Yellow Page - Links o' Crud

I've come across some neat places in my travels on the "information superhighway" (that phrase is so 1997) and would like to share some with you, dear reader. But most of this is just links to all the crud I happen to be into. Prepare to be enthralled.

The Simpsons
Well, you already know what I think of this show so I won't prattle on with any long commentary. Except to say that it's about time it got a decent Emmy nomination from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (e.g. Best Comedy). Do you really want to see Friends win again? Do Lisa proud -- write now and protest!
> The Simpsons Archive
If there's ever a reliable Simpsons resource, it's this. Contains an up-to-date episode guide and more. I co-maintain the official Simpsons FAQ and the Awards & Honours Page for this site.
> The Official Simpsons Site
An offering from FOX, the U.S. network that screens The Simpsons. Perhaps the only Simpsons site immune from Cease & Desist orders.

Graphic Design
Every artist needs some handy dandy tricks up their sleeve. Here's some of mine:

> iStockphoto.com
This site is a must for any graphic artist or web designer. This photographic community has over 200,000 photos and illustrations that you can download for US$3.00 or less per image, with 20% of profits going directly to the photographer/artist.
> Adobe
The world leaders in design software and technology. They created the now abundantly used PDF file, as well as industry standard software Photoshop and Illustrator, which I use on a daily basis.

Mmmm... Television
Hey, there's nothing idiotic about the idiot box when you're watching the likes of:
> Six Feet Under
There is really no other way to describe this show, centred around a family who live and work in a funeral parlour, other than calling it a total mindf**k. Otherwise, incredibly smart, funny and moving is the best I can say to sum it up.
> Monk
The show about the obsessive compulsive detective. Think Columbo, but a hundred times funnier. Tony Shalhoub is just brilliant as Adrian Monk.
> Futurama
Simpsons creator Matt Groening's baby -- an animated sci-fi comedy set in the year 3000 about a guy from the year 1999, a female cyclops and an alcoholic, kleptomaniac robot named Bender.

> Queer Eye for the Straight Guy
As the website states, "They are the Fab Five: an elite team of gay men dedicated to extolling the simple virtues of style, taste and class." Amen brothers.

Random Interesting Stuff
And then there's the other sites you find all over the net that are great for time-wasting and party talk:
> Urban Legends Reference Pages
Find out what's true, false and unsolved. Be warned, you will probably spend hours reading through this site.
> Darwin Awards
Best I let the site describe itself: "The Darwin Awards honor those who improve our gene pool... by removing themselves from it. Of necessity, this honor is bestowed posthumously." Stupidity can indeed be fatal, this site is (not so) living proof.
> School Friends Australia & New Zealand
Australia's site for old school pals. Register your name and your old school to get in touch with some former pals and acquaintances (or bullies -- so you can laugh at what they've become).

Making the World a Better Place
> Amnesty International (Australia)
Global defenders of human rights -- click here to see why they're more vital now than ever before. Donate or participate in grassroots action to save lives the world over.
> RSPCA
Donations made to your local RSPCA will assist the operation of animal shelters, support the work of the Inspectorate, provide community education on animal welfare issues and help bring about improvements in animal welfare legislation.
