The Yellow Page - The Obligatory Photo Album

I suppose you're one of those people who likes to go to people's houses and stare at photos on the walls of old relatives and strange looking children. Don't feel bad, I'm one of them too. So bring along your voyeurism and take a peek at my own photo collection.

Snapshots of myself and random stuff

  • Well, here's li'l ol' me (August 2002).
  • What album would be complete without a baby photo? A fave of me with Mum as a little tacker.
  • A part of Melbourne I took too long to discover -- truly a tribute to modern art, the Tower of Toilets.
  • A shot of the Canuck god himself, Mr Steven Page, at the Barenaked Ladies '99 Melbourne show, with fellow band members Jim Creeggan (left) and Ed Robertson (right) looking on.
  • I took this as the Olympic Torch made its way up Milleara Road, East Keilor at sunrise on July 30, 2000.

People close to my heart

  • Matt Rose:
The sweetest thing to come out of Nebraska, USA -- the funk king of all things, my bestest bud, husband and soulmate.
  • Deborah Hocking:
My musical superstar sister who supplies me with endless wisdom and laughs, particularly with her ample tissue collection.
  • Kathryn Hall:
This would be my bestest chick bud. If it wasn't for this girl I'd most likely be institutionalised myself. She keeps me out of trouble; she's "the soothing yin to my raging yang." And possesses the most contagious laugh on earth.

My adventures with The Simpsons

  • A script of episode 8F10 ("I Married Marge") signed by various Simpsons cast and crew members.
  • I'm proud of this one -- Yeardley Smith and I at the Comic Art Gallery in July 1995.
  • Harry Shearer (with me and my friend Jake) in December 1996 when he was in Australia to promote an exhibition of cels from the "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" episodes on display at the CAG.
  • My brush with the show's Animation Director Jim Reardon in October 1997. Jim's appearance at the CAG was to promote the new book, "A Guide To Our Favourite Family" as well as The Simpsons' upcoming 200th episode.
  • Simpsons Executive Producer Mike Scully & Jennifer Thacker (staff writer and wife of Mike) visited the CAG in January 1998 to promote yet another exhibition of Simpsons cels.
  • Getting a spiffy new production cel signed by Nancy Cartwright for my 21st Birthday at the CAG in October 1999.
  • Nancy checks out the cel I painted for her as a memento of her trip to Australia.
  • Here's an animation cel I won, taken from the episode "Kamp Krusty".
  • And my other two babies -- the 21st Birthday Simpsons cel and a piece from the first episode of Futurama, signed by Matt Groening.
  • It's not every day someone asks you to paint Homer Simpson on their refrigerator, so I did... here's how the end result looked.

Touring America, July 1998

  • Me with Matt and the family (and the dog, Husker).
  • The rental car we had in California was fine, it was the L.A. traffic we couldn't tolerate.
  • Following the Simpsons' conga line at the entrance to Film Roman's Simpsons studio.
  • Mr D. Duck of Disneyland with some friends.
  • Matt's trusty Oldsmobile, complete with Cartman sticker on the back window.
  • Soulmates: Matt and myself, taken the day I left the U.S.

Matt does Melbourne, May-July 1999

  • Matt's attempt at showing off his newly acquired patriotic feelings for Australia.
  • Both of us at my 21st birthday party in June.
  • Sharing the cake!
  • Sitting quietly at the park on a rather balmy winter afternoon ("Pfff... you call this winter? Where I come from this is spring... and fall").
  • Jam Session: featuring Deb on acoustic guitar and vocals, Matt on drums and Sean on electric guitar.
  • Our favourite Pom Julie and her husband John invite us over for dinner. "Oh Motthew, you and Tummy make such a good couple."
  • Matt acts out his own "I am the lizard queen" (er... king... KING) scene.
  • He dropped to his knees when he spotted an autographed Rush album at Melbourne's Hard Rock Cafe ("BAH! ... nobody here has even heard of Rush!")

Revisiting America, December 1999-January 2000

  • Me, Matt and Jan (his mom) smilin' on a couch in Duncan, Oklahoma.
  • Little miss Emma, his cute 5-year-old cousin who's too smart for her own good.
  • Group hug... "Smithers there's something on my leg!! Get it off, GET IT OFF!"
  • Trying to get a picture of Emma's sister Audrey... trying being the operative word.
  • Husker gets an unwanted bath from Steve.
  • Hear no evil, smell no evil.
  • Matt and I standing in the midst of Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas; site of the JFK assassination.
  • Behind the infamous picket fence.
  • A group shot on the day of the Nebraska Huskers bowl game... GO BIG RED!
  • I held my new found interest in American football for as long as I could... almost 20 whole minutes.
